The Basics

The Catawba Terrace Care Center is a 501c3 ministry of the Westminster Presbyterian  Church Diaconate. Our volunteers are the heartbeat of our ministry and make it possible to serve our neighbors. The time commitment is minimal – an average of 2-3 hours per month.

Food Pantry Coordinator
Site Leader
Kids Club Leaders


An average of 2-3 hours per month.


Current Need

The Kids Club was founded in 1993 and seeks to teach and mentor kids through the love of Christ. With an emphasis on “God, Family and Education”, our volunteers serve the kids by building relationships and participating in fun activities with them.

Kids Club is currently looking for Site Leaders to assist with activities on Saturday mornings. Activities include taking kids to movies, parks, restaurants and other fun happenings. The commitment is one Saturday per month from approximately 9:15 a.m. -12:30 p.m. Site Leaders commit a specific Saturday (1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th Saturday) but subs are availabe if you need to miss a week. Contact us for more details by clicking here.


Current Need

This position involves coordinating our Food Pantry. Commitment is approximately 2 hours a week. Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing and recruiting volunteers
  • Oversee obtaining new clients (families in need of help with food)
  • Scheduling of food packers and deliverers
  • Oversee food shopping
  • Oversee food donations
  • Organize food pantry and freezer
  • Maintain all appropriate paperwork

Weekday Afternoon Site leader

Current Need

  • Needed one weekday afternoon per month. 

This position involves opening up our Food Pantry on one afternoon per month for food pickup. Site Leaders coordinate with our Food Pantry clients on time/day to pick food up at the Care Center. Food pick up is usually on Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon between 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. but this is flexible. Commitment is approximately one hour per month on a Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon.


Current Need

  • Assitant Site leader for the FOURTH Saturday morning of each month.

This position involves assisting the Site Leader in opening up our Food Pantry on the 4th Saturday of each month. Site Leaders coordinate our Food Deliverers and set up food boxes for them. This may also involve delivering food as a substitute and involves a commitment of the 4th Saturday each month from 7:45 a.m. to approximately 9:00 a.m.
